I moved a couple months ago and now it is in different growing conditions with more direct light. It is still thriving, but the baby plants it is putting out are variegated! I can’t find anything online about a solid green plant turning variegated, only the other way around. What is going on?

Recently a friend corrected me and told me it was a spider fern. it is identical to the one labeled Chlorophytum comosum ‘Variegatum’, or common Spider Plant” is this true. Is the spider plant classified as a fern?

Unfortunately the cat ate most of it, but we managed to save a couple of baby spiders. Because it is so difficult to find a green plant, I keep taking cuttings, and they all thrive. It’s one of the easiest plants to look after.
